Zamboni driver charged with DUI

It is probably a hockey fan's dream to drive the Zamboni at a New Jersey Devils' game. After all, driving the big ice resurfacing vehicle is a big deal during the intermissions, and it is arguably one of the coolest jobs a person can have. However, if you're going to be behind the wheel of a Zamboni, you're going to have to be sober.

Unfortunately, a Zamboni driver in North Dakota didn't get the memo. During a high school girls' hockey game, spectators observed the 27-year-old man driving the Zamboni quite erratically. Police were called and he was found to be drunk while resurfacing the ice. In fact, he was found to have a blood alcohol level of .30, which is more than three times the legal limit of .08.

Indeed, operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol level of .08 or above in the state of New Jersey is a misdemeanor; which is punishable with up to 30 days in jail and a $500 fine. There are additional fines and surcharges that can result in an additional $3000 being paid.

Because of the financial and criminal implications, it is important to have an experienced criminal defense attorney to review all the facts, analyze the law and give professional advice regarding one's legal rights and options.

It remains to be seen what the Zamboni driver's fate will be, but it is reasonable to believe that it will be influenced on his prior record and any arguments from his attorney.
