  1. disclaimer.

Various criminal and municipal court offenses can cause immigration difficulties including deportation for people that are green card holders in the United States.

Many times people are unaware that criminal or municipal court charges hat they face might lead to possible deportation from the United States for a period of 20 years.

If a person is charged with and convicted of crimes that are designated as AGGRAVATED FELONIES, the very conviction of any aggravated felony will lead to deportation from the United States for a period of 20 years. Additionally, certain municipal court offenses can lead to deportation. Multiple convictions for possession of small amounts of marijuana or other drugs can lead to deportation. Conviction of crimes and even municipal court offenses involving moral turpitude can also lead to deportation. It is important to know which of these problems might possibly lead to deportation BEFORE you decide to enter a plea of guilty to one of these problem offenses. Only an experienced attorney who has handled these matters before is best able to advise you what course of action to take.

Anthony N. Palumbo, Esq., has handled many hundreds of these matters and will obtain the best possible results in both the criminal and municipal court cases. It may very well be that because a conviction could lead to the loss of your green card status and deportation that you cannot plead guilty to an offense but must have a trial. However, there are many cases where Mr. Palumbo can obtain a plea to a lesser charge that will not involve the consequences of deportation. It is a difficult and technical area where you must be guided by someone who has vast experience in the area.

Anthony N. Palumbo, Esq. has 35+ years of practice in the State of New Jersey and has been involved in hundreds of situations involving green card holder who, because of criminal and/or municipal court problems have faced deportation proceedings if not for the assistance given to them by Anthony N. Palumbo, Esq.
